Migration equals economic growth. Without migration, developed economies like ours would stagnate. Think of industries which depend on more people - housing, food, education etc. If our population stops growing, the demand for these services stalls. That means the people working in those industries start losing their jobs, so the country becomes more unequal - more shacks alongside skyscrapers - think Manilla. Thats why the Abbotts Governments slashing of immigration, cutting the refugee intake, cuts to eduction and denial of the reality of climate change are so stupid - they are exactly the wrong policies for generating economic growth in the future.
