Mija finally had success! Mom started giving her a bed bath when PT came in and said that she had therapy at 8. Mom and the aide got Mija dressed in warp speed. The therapist had Mija try to stand at the parallel bars. It had been a long time since she had tried to stand. She was able to stand for about 30 seconds with assist. When she was assisted back to her chair, she put her hands together and clapped them. First time that happened without an assist. The therapist had her transfer to the therapy bed. She asked Mija to point to mom. She pointed with a finger on her left hand. Everyone was SO excited!!! She then gave everyone a thumbs up on her left hand. Next, they gave her a soccer ball to kick. It took awhile, but she was able to slide her foot and move the ball with each foot. In speech, the therapist put a table board in front of her. She asked her to sweep her hand from left to right and find the numbers one at a time and put them in order. The therapist guided her hand from left to right. When she came to the correct number, mija stopped the therapist hand. She was able to do all 5 numbers. Mija and mom had to leave at 10 for a doctors appointment to remove the 30 staples in her stomach, so therapy ended a little early today. After returning from getting her staples out, Mija was extremely tired and wanted to lie down. Just as mom was ready to leave for grandmas visitation, Denise Peterson came to visit. Denise was going to stay until her daughter came. Then Denise Lysell was with her thia evening: Mija was in bed when I arrived. She waved at me, and started mouthing sentences and didnt want to stop. I told her to slow down so I could try and read her lips. She did an ok sign. She also is starting to whisper more. Again we read her posts, and your comments. When I told her how many people liked her sight she said WOW. It was another spa night in the shower since Mija got her staples out. She loved having the water on her. She mouthed warmer when asked how the water temperature was. She really seemed relaxed and swayed her head side to side with the music. Mija was definitely ready for bed after her shower. Mija sneezed when she was in bed. I said God bless you , and she said thanks in her whisper voice. Mija was asleep in minutes.
