Mike Nichols made a big impact on my life and Im so sad our conversations have to end. He was one of the smartest people I knew and one of the funniest, warmest, most inclusive and most terrifying if you happen to be the target of his wrath. I first worked for him on the Broadway premiere in 1984 of The Real Thing by Tom Stoppard. The notes session with Stoppard and Nichols are some of my favorite, all time memories and they continued! through another Broadway show, The Country Girl, lunches, dinners, visits to each other backstage. I wish I could remember every word. I saw him last just two weeks ago at The opening of the latest production ( the third!) of The Real Thing on Broadway, Diane Sawyer and Tom Stoppard were there along with the great, new cast onstage and many of us from the original company were there in the audience and Mike couldnt have been happier. I only wish I hadnt waited so long to hear what he thought. Godspeed, Mike Here are a few pics from The Country Girl, also with the great Albert Wolsky and backstage at my show. Ill try to find something from The Real Thing as well.
