Mikeados Adventure Walk: Hello again! We cannot thank you - TopicsExpress

Mikeados Adventure Walk: Hello again! We cannot thank you enough for sponsoring multiple shelter walks for these great dogs! Thanks to you, Mikeado (Mike-ah-doo) got to do a bit of hiking and swimming today at Robious Landing Park. Mikeado is a gorgeous dog who looks like he is wearing eyeliner all the time. People comment all the time about his amazing eyes. And, it isnt just his eyes that are amazing. He has a fabulous personality, loves kids, and is eager to play with everything he meets. Plus, he just LOVES water. When I picked him up, Mikeado did not want to get in the car. In fact, he seemed a bit scared. That worried me, but he was a total gentleman as I lifted him into the truck. Once there, he curled up on the bench seat for a nap. However, it wasnt too long into the ride before he was sitting in the middle of that seat with his head between the two front seats. I dont know if it was because I was scratching his head or because he liked the air conditioning, but he was happy there. Once at the park, Mikeado didnt hesitate to jump from the truck and start sniffing. He was ready for adventure! Since it was pretty hot, I thought we would check out the water first thing and found a creek bed that still had water. He loved it! In fact, he liked the water so much, and it was so low, that we walked in the creek instead of the trail for the first part of our hike. We hopped rocks and had to scramble up banks a few times. I got absolutely filthy, but Mikeado proved to be much more graceful than me and stayed clean and very happy. Once on the trail, Mikeado proved to be quite the squirrel enthusiast. I had to laugh out loud a few times when he lost them. He really didnt seem to understand that the squirrels would jump onto the trees to disappear and always got a befuddled look: ears up and head cocked to the side. He was just so cute. Toward the end of our walk, I took Mikeado to the boat launch to get in the river. From his excitement about the creek, I figured he was a swimmer and I was right. He got straight in swam as far as the leash would allow. There were several motor boats in the area and he was very interested in them. So, in addition to being a swimmin dog, he may just be a boatin dog as well! The wake from these boats created bigger waves than typical for the rivers edge and Mikeado wasnt a huge fan of those, but when they subsided, he was right back in the water. Mikeado is available with Richmond Animal League. If youre interested in sponsoring an Adventure Walk for a rescued dog, please visit canineadventure.net/store/sponsored-walk
