Mikes Monday Message Words Every year we have a service for Epiphany where we hand out stars with words of inspiration written on them. It becomes each person’s “word for the year.” In 2014 my star word was “clap,” and sure enough, I had much to clap about as this has been a year filled with blessings. I want to give you some other words to reflect on during this 12 Days of Christmas. These words come from the Society of Saint John the Evangelist. Monasticism began with the Desert Fathers and Mothers. Seekers would approach and ask, “Father (Mother), give me a word.” The Brothers of SSJE have given us 12 days to reflect on during the 12 Days of Christmas (December 25-January 5): December 25 Incarnation December 26 Witness December 27 Word December 28 Innocence December 29 Love December 30 Light December 31 Peace January 1 Jesus January 2 Hope January 3 Joy January 4 Faith January 5 Gratitude In a word—Thanks.
