Military retirees and their families have put in years of service to the nation, and as a way to recognize their contributions and to ensure they receive the resources and benefits they have earned, the Fort Campbell Retirement Services Office will hold its annual Retiree Appreciation Day Saturday, Sept. 27, at Cole Park Commons from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with registration beginning at 7 a.m. Representatives from more than 20 different organizations including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Morale, Welfare and Recreation and the VA Veterans Memorial Office will be available for one-on-one assistance. The event will also feature equipment displays showcasing the U.S. Army’s latest technology in weaponry, explosive ordnance disposal, and communications. This year’s retiree brunch will be held at the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) dining facility from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Retirees can then attend a health fair at BACH where flu, pneumonia and shingles vaccinations will be given out free of charge. As in years past, busses will be available to take retirees to the Brig. Gen. Don F. Pratt Museum and to an engagement skills trainer which simulates range training for infantry soldiers. Representatives from the Fort Campbell Legal Assistance Office will also be on-site to create powers of attorney and wills for retirees and their families. The event is open to all area retirees, including those from sister services, and provides a way for retirees to reconnect with their military family. This is also an opportunity for retirees to meet representatives on the Fort Campbell Retiree Council and the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Retiree Council.
