Millville Results HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (July 28, 2013) – Spring Creek Motocross Park in Millville, Minn. was host to round nine of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. The first pro national was held at the facility in 1983. The track is known for its steep elevation changes and the roughest straightaway on the circuit, the notorious Spring Creek sand whoops. The first motos aired live on Fuel TV and NBC broadcast the second 450 moto live. Josh Grant continued his streak of good starts by nearly pulling the holeshot in the first moto, he looked to have it but was pushed wide and briefly off the track but stayed up and was sixth on lap one with Brayton 14th. Grant passed his way into the top-five on lap four, and then to fourth on lap six where he finished the moto. Brayton took the checkers in 14th. Grant enjoyed a brief feature by the pit reporter on FUEL TV due to his performance on the track during the race, and then a podium interview after the moto where he was asked about the double ear infection he was diagnosed with early last week and his ability to still finish the moto just one spot off the podium. Grant again started at the front in moto two rounding the first turn in third place. He went to work right away and passed the second place rider, but as soon as he made the pass his front wheel slammed into the face of an oncoming sand whoop which caused him to be violently thrown over the handle bars. Grant heroically remounted after the hard crash and attempted to ride but found he could not and retired for the moto. Brayton also started up front in sixth place but went down on the second lap in the whoops. He restarted the race in 31st and was able to work his way up to 18th at the finish. Grants four – 35 moto scores gave him 11th overall for the day, while Brayton’s 14 – 18 finishes equated to 18th overall. Grant does not appear to have any serious injury, and should be ready to race at round 10 in two weeks. The Washougal event on the 20th drew a crowd of 25,750. The live stream had 49,955 starts. FUEL TV attracted an audience of 88,000 for the broadcast of the first motos, with 118,000 viewing the second motos on the NBC Sports Network. The series will take a weekend off then return at Unadilla Sports Valley in New Berlin, NY on Aug. 10. FUEL TV will broadcast the first motos live at 1:00 p.m. (EST). The second motos will air live on the NBC Sports Network at 3:00 p.m. (EST). Justin Brayton will take advantage of the off weekend to contest the Moto X competition at X Games 19 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Moto X will air live between 10:30 p.m. (EST) Saturday Aug. 3 and 1:30 a.m. (EST) Sunday Aug. 4.
