Milton - are you THIS easily bamboozled - really? I pray you are not. So Mr. Compton was featured in the Santa Rosa Press Gazette today and once again tried to impress us all with his deep devotion for his community. What has his devotion to date brought? That devotion has brought Main Street Milton - Mr. Compton and Mr. Thetfords baby. It has brought plants and pots. Twelve years of plants and pots. Sure there are some who give it undeserving credit. Those people are a part of the problem not the solution. Look into it please - FOR THE LOVE OF MILTON look into it!!! Then he led the Historical Society - they all claim to have led that group. It has brought the four year restoration of the Imogene. Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day. Vernons leadership has brought us the demise of two community based groups whose goal to help has been transformed into hurt. An accomplishment many are credited for but all deserve (check out the BOD for these groups). It has brought recognition of the importance of preservation but at the cost of progress (Marquis Bayou Bridge). It has brought confusion about what is good for this City vs. what is good for the group (Southern Bypass). He states he listens but all we hear is talk. Talk about alternatives that no longer exist. Talk about preservation by a County wide preservation organization that has done one thing and that thing was the result of an act of God. If the Imogene would not have been saved by the Milton Fire Department what then would they claim? These people say they want the positive voice to win. I DO TOO!! They started this race flinging mud but when it didn’t stick and someone threw back (and it did) they wanted a clean race. But folks this has been clean the dirty stuff will follow if God forbid one of these people are successful. Rebuke what has been said fella’s. It’s just the facts. The facts and community questions on motive killed your southern bypass. Community questions and involvement have lead to your organizations membership declining to a point you are nonexistent. So you now want to be elevated using your service to the community as a warrantee for your election. It SHOULD rather serve as the basis for abandonment. EVERYTHING you are saying you “will do” is ALREADY being done and is being done as only those who actually CARE for Milton can do - the Mayor and the City Council ARE always available to listen to citizens and actually LISTEN to them. They do not promise to do, they DO!! Please take your brand of help to another place and hinder their development as you have here. We deserve honest hard working leaders as we have and for the love of Milton will have.
