Milupi Campaigns for HH in Western Province Alliance for Development and Democracy (ADD) president Charles Milupi is in Western province campaigning for his fellow opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema with whose party – the UPND – he has formed a loose alliance. The ADD has a minimally strong presence in Western province largely because it is where its leader hails. Below is the statement issued by UPND PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 15th DECEMBER 2014 Alliance for Development and Democracy (ADD) president Charles Milupi says he has decided to endorse and make an alliance with United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema because of his love for the country. And Mulupi has warned ADD members who would want to frustrate the alliance of immediate dismissal from the party. Addressing both UPND and ADD members at the UPND provincial Campaign Center in Mongu over the weekend, Milupi said the three year rule of the PF has brought misery to the citizen and that it has put the country into problems. He explained that his party didn’t see the need to file for the nomination and take part in the January 20, 2015 Presidential Election as doing so would have split the votes and give an advantage to the PF who are supposed to be kicked out of power. “From the onset we are not jokers. What is happening in this country should make each and every one understand that we are in a war. We are at crossroad and our job is to ensure that the country goes forward. “ “We are determined for the sake of this country …come what may … HH will have to win. We will not allow anyone to use personal interest to make us fail,” Milupi said. He continued, “there comes time when one must subordinate his ambitions and desires to that of the country. I Charles Milupi have seriously analyzed HH‘s plans and promises for this country and I have come to realize as an Economist that they are genuine and achievable! The man needs to be supported by all well meaningful Zambians” Milupi said nepotism and tribalism have become the order of the day saying that unless you come from the Bemba region that’s when you can be employed in the PF government. “Out of the 23 ministers in the PF government, 15 are all from one region and only three districts for that matter…. Mpika, Kasama and Chisali. The economy is also in a mess and total ruined,” Milupi emphasized. And when featured on a radio program on Radio Liseli, Milupi received many calls from listeners praising and congratulating him for his stance to support UPND’s Hichilema and was also assured that the entire province was behind him. Milupi took time on radio to remind the people of Western Province that Edger Lungu didn’t not only deport a catholic priest who was fighting for the poor Zambians but that he also arrested the Barotseland activists and threatened to destroy Maunyamo harbor when he was home affairs minister.
