Mimiko, Ondo PDP agree on sharing formula The crisis in the Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over the dissolution of the state executive by the National Working Committee (NWC), has subsided following a reconciliation meeting between Governor Olusegun Mimiko and leaders of the old PDP group, led by Senator Bode Olajumoke. The meeting also had the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Kingsley Kuku, and the ousted state chairman of the PDP, Ebenezer Alabi, in attendance. The two parties agreed to work together in the interest of the party, following a reconciliation meeting with the President in Abuja on Tuesday. According to a source who spoke to Daily Independent on the outcome of the meeting of leaders of the PDP with the governor, Mimiko’s group, otherwise known as new PDP, will produce 18 candidates for the state House of Assembly election, leaving the old PDP with eight candidates. In the National Assembly election, the new PDP will present six candidates for the House of Representatives, while the old PDP will presents three candidates, the new PDP will also have two slots out of the three senatorial districts in the state. However, a chieftain of the party and former Commissioner in the Niger Delta Development Commission, Benson Enikuomehin, has called on the NWC of the party to avoid taking any decision that might mar Jonathan’s chances in the 2015 election. Enikuomehin, while speaking with newsmen in Akure, on Wednesday, said the dissolution of the PDP state executive has put the state chapter of the party in disarray. He called the action undemocratic and not in conformity with the rule of law, especially when there is a court injunction restraining it from doing so.
