Mineola District FFA Leadership Contest Results 2013 The Hawkins FFA Chapter competed in the Mineola District Leadership contest on Wednesday, November 13th. Twenty-three schools were represented, 1A-5A. Hawkins placed 10th Overall. Mineola District continues to be the most competitive of the 54 districts throughout the state. Junior Skills Demonstration This teams placed 4th, one spot out of qualifying for Area. Demonstrated Preventative Maintenance on a Small Gasoline Engine. A team of 3-5 first year members performs an actual demonstration of an agricultural skill including anything in the Agricultural Science and Technology curriculum using effective public speaking and communication methods. Team Members: Kyle Durnal, Jason Graham, Mario Niekamp, Cain Austin, Haley Cook, Coby Hagan, Grant Henneous and Kainnon Hines. Agricultural Advocacy Team placed 6th. Did presentation on Bio-Technology. This contest will be designed to inform the general public and consumers about the importance and value of the agriculture industry and how agriculture impacts human lives. Team Members: Rheba Snead, Brittany McComb and Ashlea Sifford. Junior Chapter Conducting Team Placed 8th. First year teams conduct a mock chapter meeting to demonstrate knowledge of basic parliamentary law and the use of correct parliamentary procedures. At the conclusion of the meeting, team members are asked questions regarding parliamentary law. Team Members: Regan White, Christine Roush, Trev Buckley, Natalie Smith, Aaron Ellington, Destiny Chapman and Ashlea Sifford. Senior Chapter Conducting Team Placed 8th. Teams conduct a mock chapter meeting to demonstrate knowledge of basic parliamentary law and the use of correct parliamentary procedures. At the conclusion of the meeting, team members are asked questions regarding parliamentary law. Team Members: Brittany McComb, Jessica Smith, Marlen Torres, Hannah Langford, Shalie Williams, Casey Jasper and Colton Ridgeway. Junior FFA Quiz Team Placed 8th. An exam testing knowledge of the Grays Guide to Parliamentary Procedure for FFA and FFA knowledge including history, facts, business structure, leadership and programs is given to individuals. Quiz teams can be made of 3 or 4 first year members. Team Members: Katie Moore- 13th High Individual, Shaniqua Wilson- 19th High Individual, Alanna Wilcox, and Camryn Hornbrook Senior Skills Demonstration Team Placed 13th. Demonstrated How To Install Alternator on a Tractor. A team of 3-5 members performs an actual demonstration of an agricultural skill including anything in the Agricultural Science and Technology curriculum using effective public speaking and communication methods. Team Members: Jackson Prater, Samuel Turner, Tyler Willard, Bryan Torres and Alex Swihart. Radio Broadcasting Team Placed 17th. Performed script on Chainsaw Safety. A team of 3 members presents an informative radio program covering one or more agricultural subjects that is current in nature and local in content. The contest assumes that the chapter has a regularly scheduled non-commercial radio program once each month over a local station. Team Members: Logan Langford, Makayla Carter and Hagen Huston. Senior FFA Quiz Team Placed 17th. An exam testing team members’ understanding of the FFA, agricultural education, current agricultural events and parliamentary procedure is given. Teams can be made of 3 or 4 members. Team Members: Jeffery Nelson, Rheba Snead, Logan Langford and Billy Ramos. Senior Creed Speaking Team Placed 18th. A 10th, 11th or 12th grade member presents the FFA Creed from memory and answers questions about its meaning and purpose. This event is just one way to boost self-confidence, earn recognition, and develop powerful, organized and professional communication skills. Creed Speaker- Makayla Carter Junior Creed Speaking Team Placed- 20th. A 7th, 8th or 9th grade member presents the FFA Creed from memory and answers questions about its meaning and purpose.
