Ministry reiterates RTI point OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT New Delhi: The sports ministry once again stressed that Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would have to come under the ambit of Right to Information (RTI) Act if it wants to use “India” as the national team’s name. Justice Mukul Mudgal, who is heading the Sports Development Bill draft committee, stated this on Monday. The bill is still at the draft stage and would have to be passed by the Parliament. “RTI will apply to all sports bodies, including cricket,” said Mudgal. “Except for a few things like selection of players or coaches and medical and fitness records of players, the public has the right to raise questions on other matters,” he said. The committee also includes leading sportspersons like shooter Abhinav Bindra and former hockey player Viren Rasquina.
