Minor gang raped in Kishtwar Protestors went on rampage, Police registers case Kishtwar, June 10: Protestors went on a rampage after a thirteen year old Gujjar girl was gang raped by duo in Drabshallah area of hilly district Kishtwar. Police sources told CNS that a sixth class girl student was allegedly dragged by duo namely Sudesh Kumar son of Karan Singh resident of village Shandri Drabshala and Nitin Chand son of Saroop Chand resident of village Gujjar Khotan Drabshala to a nearby secluded place and committed rape on her. As the news about the rape spread in the area, hundreds of people blocked the Kishtwar-Jammu road and demanded stringent punishment for the ‘savages’. Eyewitnesses told CNS that angry protestors pelted stones on vehicles and tried to ransack the shops and government offices, however, the timely intervention from respectable citizens and police pacified the protestors and brought situation under control. Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal told CNS that one of the accused Nitin Chand son of Saroop Chand resident of village Gujjar Khotan Drabshala has been arrested while the hunt has been launched to nab the other one. “We have registered a formal case against the accused and investigation has been taken up on fast track basis,” he said.
