They stated out by being used for healthy living and ended up making millions of pounds for the family who created them! Evaluation: Stephen Ross (4.37) – Very quick at the beginning, pace slowed down in the middle section and then the end very fast again. Humour was good, excellent role play section, lose the pen in the hand!! Ending was a bit flat, but a pass was given Ron DanielF10 Without notes9.30/8.41 minutes “Is it only me?!!” Ron lead us on his silly happenings to him over the recent months, by mistaken identities, being on the right seats in the theatre, but not necessarily on the right day!! Finishing with attempting to vandalise his friends’ car, but not the right car!! He convinced us that we all might be becoming silly as well!! Evaluation: Paul Bassett (4.07) - Gave a good and concise evaluation, with a good balance in the talk. The speaker developed the speech throughout, with excellent eye contact and spoke with conviction. A pass was given. Roddy DuncanB5 Use of Voice8.37/9.13 minutes “Where’s Your Bin??” Roddy boasted with excitement over his new green recycling bin for the first time! He gave us a fact finding and informative use of recycling and also gave us the concept of up-recycling! and the importance of recycling to save the planet and educate all people. Roddy finished by saying that he had been known to recycle speeches!!! Evaluation: David Jones (4.15) Speaker had excellent use of voice, pace was a bit fast in places, and the speech would have benefited from the use of a pause every so often. Excellent humour and good development use throughout. Ending he felt was a bit flat, but a pass was given. Topics Session Topics Chairman: Joyce Laidlaw Each member had the same topic “Acceptable behaviour in todays’ society is changing rapidly, name one change that you embrace and one that you abhor. As a small deviation from the usual topics, after the salutation begin the first word of your speech with the letter ? – each member had a different letter, which when collected together spelt “Topics”. Topics Evaluation – Paul Bassett Paul Bassett reported that this was an interesting topics session and Joyce Laidlaw had given him a list of what was happening. All speakers gave good mini speeches and were linked very well. The timing was explained and all members spoke to the topic which gave a pass for everyone. General Evaluation – Bryan Kirkwood Business Session was brief and to the point. Not all members had a programme tonight including the General Evaluator. A good welcome was given by our Social Secretary. There was a lot of fast talking tonight, but on many occasions he failed to hear what was being said. He made comments on the strengths and weakness of the speeches and agreed with the Evaluations given. The Topics Session was good but at first glance he thought it was going to be difficult and Paul Bassett had given a good all round and comprehensive evaluation of the session. A very successful evening. The meeting closed at 9.43pm.
