Miracles do happen…… One year ago tonight, things weren’t - TopicsExpress

Miracles do happen…… One year ago tonight, things weren’t going well at all. Something wasn’t right. Ellie was alert but she wouldn’t really open her eyes and talk to us. We thought she was just sick from the chemo she had received. I was at my wits end and my sister had come down to stay with Mike at the hospital for the night. I was just going to sleep in the lobby. At 2:00 am, she came out and told me they had called in the doctor to look at Ellie. Her heart rate was low and she was just kind of moaning. He was going to keep an eye on her for the rest of the night. At 5:00 am, she came out to get me again. They had called in the Rapid Response Team. Something was seriously wrong. We screamed out to Jesus in the atrium words that our Senior Pastor had told us a few days before, “Lord it is Ellie! She’s 4!” As we went back to the room, they were wheeling her out and wouldn’t let us go with her. At that point, I hit the wall in the hallway with my fist as hard as I could. We spent the next day in the ICU waiting room in tears crying out to Jesus like we never had before. I was playing worship music out loud on the speaker of my phone as loud as I could. I didn’t care who heard it. They called us in to the conference room around mid-morning. That’s never good. An ICU doctor asked us what “heroic measures” we wanted them to take. I asked what he meant because I honestly didn’t know. He said chest compressions, ventilators, life support, etc. I looked him straight in the eye and told him “you do whatever it takes!” Quite frankly, he looked at me like I was crazy and in some serious denial. I went back and sent a message out to all of you as fast as I could. That message simply said “whatever it takes, we need a miracle!” Tomorrow, that miracle will get up and head to Day 4 of Vacation Bible School at The Church at Station Hill! Look how far we’ve come! Thank you Jesus, you did it! And thank you to all of you who prayed for the miracle! Still standing with our Shining Light of God’s Promises and praying for continued miracles! Blessings! Mike, Kerri, Ellie, and Sadie Taliaferro
