Misc notes from Cornerstone Acres: 1. Mariel named the rooster - Saygen Rooster - because every time he crows, she smiles with delight and says, Say gin, rooster! 2. Does anyone actually spend more time mowing than they do fixing mowers? First the belt broke, then an old piece of metal newly surfaced bent the blades. Sigh. And how does old metal suddenly pop up out of the ground after 10 years of not being there when you last mowed??? 3. Tires on little trailers do not last 12 years. If you try and make them, they both blow out on the same trip, with your neighbors tiller strapped on. Fun times on Highway 36. 4. Bee school was great - so excited to plant bee friendly plants around our place. This is the first year we have NOT sprayed for weeds and clover to keep our place as chemical free as we can control. We learned so much yesterday! 5. 18 baby chicks joining the flock tomorrow. Theyll be inside for about a week, then moving to the barn and enclosed yard. Hopefully, theyll start laying as the current 10 grow old (18 months!) and no longer lay daily. 6. Sunrise and coffee on the weekends is a very, very happy thing!
