Misinformation is being spread about the Dominican Republic supposedly committing genocide on Haitian nationals. This is false according to people in the DR. What happened was that a Haitian individual killed a DR man and wife; he was, in turn, killed. Thats all. This mis-reporting was on CNNs IREPORT site but has not been posted officially. Many Haitian women go to the DR to give birth at no charge and 20,000 Haitian students are studying at DR colleges at costs that are lower than for citizens of DR as a way of helping the Haitian people continue to recover from the horrendous earthquakes of a few years ago.
