Missed this pompous guff at the time, but heard it mentioned on The World at One today. Julian Fellowes claims Shakespeare is inaccessible, unless one has an expensive education like his own. Well, it helps, Lord Bombast, but having taught the Bards work for many years & directed a couple of successful (i.e. ENJOYED) productions, I can confidently say youre talking out of your flabby old rump. It takes effort to breach the 400 year language barrier & understand the lingo, & few will get every nuance & allusion, but putting Shakespeares work behind a glass case & saying Hands orf, you ill-educated commoners! is rank arrogance. Paunchy egg-pated addlewit windbag. theguardian/stage/2013/oct/14/globe-theatre-julian-fellowes-shakespeare
