Missouri Early Learning Conference Registration Now Open! Dear Early Educator- We know it still feels like summer outside, but school is back in session, and it’s time to start thinking about professional development to add a few new tools to your already-loaded toolbelt. And that’s just where the 2013 Missouri Early Learning Conference comes in. This year’s conference will be held November 14-15 at the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri. This year’s incredible speaker line-up includes experts on reading, writing, poetry, math, hands-on science, behavioral and classroom management, and much, much more! Come and hear reading expert Kathy Collins talk about how we can center our teaching around what truly matters for kids—even in an environment characterized by increasing demands and shrinking resources. Listen as Georgia Heard shares her expertise about teaching nonfiction writing and poetry with young students. Hear Maria Walther as she shares tips for using picture books to teach young readers and writers. Learn effective strategies for teaching math from Kassia Omohundro Wedekind; learn lots of cool technology tips and tricks from Tammy Worcester; and learn how to help your students achieve the new ELA and math standards from Lynne Ecenbarger. And that’s just the beginning. Plan to attend the two Author’s Luncheons during the conference and listen to children’s author Shelley Gill and Children’s Poet Laureate Kenn Nesbitt as they share their best tips and tricks for getting young children engaged with reading and writing. And that just scratches the surface. We will also bring you breakout sessions on classroom management, hands-on science, non-fiction writing, and many, many other topics—30 sessions in all! Go to muconf.missouri.edu/moearlylearning/ to learn more about the conference and to register. And remember that the deadline to guarantee that you get the reduced conference room rate of $87 per night is October 23rd. To register toll free, call Tan-Tar-A at 1-800-826-8272.
