Mitch Salmon Imagine for a moment that when you looked at the world you no longer saw what you see and you began seeing what God does. Imagine for a moment that all self consciousness was removed and the only consciousness remaining was that of HIM. Imagine for a moment that your interactions with others were no longer shaped with what you wanted to say or do but were solely focused on God’s will being accomplished. Would what you see significantly change your response to this world? Would the removal of self make room for God to speak through you? Would the shedding of personal desires make you a ready messenger? “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” - Hebrews 11:1 Is this what is meant in the statement, “walk by faith?” For what our fleshly eyes cannot see is no less real, it is just less apparent. Because our eyes are not opened to the Spirit we don’t see that the man we smile at on the elevator who immediately turns his eyes to the ground is carrying a heavy load of shame. We don’t notice that scantily clad young lady flaunting herself before the world is dying for acceptance and real love. We don’t see that our neighbor who has amassed a myriad of “toys” is looking for one who will fill the hole inside. We don’t see that the self proclaimed, “know it all” who gets on our nerves with their air of superiority has never has never felt like they were enough. “So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. ” - 2 Corinthians 5:16-20 Consider the song I am about to share as more than just a song. Consider the chorus as a prayer. “Give me Your eyes for just one second. Give me Your eyes so I can see everything thing that I keep missing. Give me Your love for humanity. Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted, the ones that are far beyond my reach. Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten. Give me Your eyes so I can see.” This is my prayer and I hope it will be yours. May this new vision not only change the way we see. May it change the way that we respond to those around us. “A new command I give to you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” - Jesus (John 13:34) https://youtube/watch?v=P5AkNqLuVgY Brandon Heath - Give Me Your Eyes youtube Music video by Brandon Heath performing Give Me Your Eyes.
