Mites and Lice will now be happily breeding in your chicken coops, - TopicsExpress

Mites and Lice will now be happily breeding in your chicken coops, with Summers heat. If you can cover your coop, Flea Bombs are very effective in eliminating the little bliters. But, of course the chickens need to be locked out for the full day, and, their water bowls and feeders need to be removed. Its also a good idea to completely remove old straw, shavings before you bomb and subsequently replacing it. And dont forget that we can provide an effective spot on treatment to kill the parasites currently living on the chickens. The spot on is a moxidectin based treatment. It is very effective for lice and mite treatment, and will kill some internal worms as well. We use this medication on all our birds, poultry and have treated guinea pigs with it, successfully. One of the great things about it is that it will also kill Air Site Mites in Birds/Poultry. These mites are normally detected if your bird is stretching its neck and opening its mouth continually called crowing. The spot on is easily applied to their skin. Its a cheap and effective method. Dosage for chickens .03ml and birds depending on their size can be as small as a cotton bud dipped into the treatment and wiped under a wing. There of course are other methods of treating mites and lice. We are happy to help with some suggestions if you want to come in and speak with us.
