Mixing Rescue With Retail... Cats Protection is the latest - TopicsExpress

Mixing Rescue With Retail... Cats Protection is the latest charity to announce plans to open adoption centres within Pets at Home stores... following in the footsteps of the RSPCA and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. Gossip Hound is unsure if there are plans to bring dogs into the shops but rescue cats will be offered up for adoption along with the goldfish, hamsters and bags of (slightly overpriced) pet food. Patrons might think this is something of a reverse for charities that have campaigned for a total ban on the sale of live animals in pet shops . Patrons may wonder whats happened... why do these charities now flock to support Pets at Home? It may be that Pets at Home has broken the mould with a welfare focused business model, highly trained staff and charitable donations. It may also be that Pets at Home has broken the mould with a highly successful business that uses animals on display to generate footfall that helps them out compete small high street pet shops. The group made £600 million last year and is worth knocking on one and a quarter billion on the stock market. Gossip Hound... still the vinegar on the dog scenes chips
