BUST FOR POKING GOATS Published: Thursday, 2014/07/10 THE family ceremony has been postponed because someone poked their goat! “People won’t eat raped goats,” Martha Phoswa (58) told Daily Sun. The Phoswa family, from KwaMpande near Sweetwaters in Pitermaritzburg, KZN was woken up by the goat’s bleating on Thursday night. Senzeni Phoswa (29) thought thieves were trying to steal the animals but she was shocked when she went out and found a man she knew. “When I inspected the goats it was clear that one of them had been raped,” Senzeni told the People’s Paper. Her husband, Mandla Maphanga, confronted the man. “He told Mandla he was looking for a cigarette but we knew he was lying,” she said. The man eventually confessed that he raped the goat. “He said he had been poking two of our goats for weeks. I’ve never been so shocked in my life,” Senzeni said. Family members aren’t sure what to do next. Officials want to put down the goats but both are now pregnant. “I don’t even want to think that the pair could have been impregnated by the man,” Senzeni said. “This is too confusing for me right now.” Other residents in the area are also in shock. “People keep coming to my house asking if this is really true,” Martha said. “We’ve been forced to postpone the ceremony that we planned for next month. “People won’t want to eat goats that have been poked, so we have to buy two new ones to serve during the ceremony,” she said. KZN police spokesman Constable Thokozani Ngcobo said a case of bestiality was opened at Taylor’s Halt cop shop. “A 30-year-old suspect was arrested and appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court on Friday,” Ngcobo said. He added that a goat was taken to the SPCA for examination and later taken back to the owner. Mnqaks~
