Mmembes Tribalism Zambians should observe closely how Fred - TopicsExpress

Mmembes Tribalism Zambians should observe closely how Fred Mmembe and Wynter Kabimba use tribalism to push their agendas. Today Fred Mmembe can lie that UPND was formed on the basis of tribalism because of the desperate situation he has with his chosen candidate for 2016, Wynter Kabimba, in PF. Mmembe has a right to peddle Kabimba for 2016. The constitution guarantees him this right. But he must do it in an honest and sincere manner (that is if he is capable of such great virtues). It is clear that things are not good for Wynter Kabimba in PF. Kabimba is hanging unto PF by a thread called Michael Sata. We dont want to dwell on PF squabbles because that is not our premise. We ask Mmembe; where was it documented that UPND was formed to stop Bemba hegemony? To which media house did Kapita report that that first UPND meeting resolved that Bemba hegemony must be stopped. See what desparation does to people. He claims that at the formation of UPND there were ONLY Tongas. But then that there were ALSO people from Western and North Western provinces and Bantu botatwes. Does Mmembe know what ONLY and ALSO mean? That is a highly confused statement right there caused by nothing else but desperation. Surely should we start recounting peoples surnames to show that UPND National Management Committee has always been regionally balanced? For example our first two vice presidents were Sakwiba Sikota and Robert Sichinga. These were followed by Patrick Chisanga and Richard Kapita. Then Kapita was joined by Francis Simenda and later Cannius Banda. These are not Tonga names. We could go on. In his desparation, Mmembe goes on to say that Bembas are more non-tribal than all other tribes in Zambia. This is a very dangerous statement coming from someone who portrays himself as a key and very influential figure in our nation. This is putting our tribes against each other. But again look at the hypocrisy of this Fred Mmembe. On one hand he calls Bembas tribal on the other he calls them non-tribal. What manner of confusion is this? This is the nature of Fred Mmembe. He is inconsistent and lacks principle. Over the 20 years that he has run The Post newspaper he has said all sorts of things. He has gravely contradicted himself during that period. For example he has called Michael Sata a trouble maker, an old foolish man, a tribalist, etc. And today this same Michael Sata is all but an Angel. It is clear Fred Mmembe is inconsistent and a hypocrite who only says things to push his personal agendas. Soon after the 2011 elections Fred Mmembe went after Hakainde Hichilema calling him a dangerous Tonga militant, a man who hates Bembas. That Hakainde Hichilema wants to bulkanise Southern province, that he has created a bantustan out of the province. As usual these statements were just uttered without any hard facts to back them. Mmembe must be hating that his project to alienate HH from other Zambians especially Bembas has failed miserably. HH and UPND are on an upward trend, receiving massive support from all over the country. This has been evidenced by our performance in all the by-elections held so far. When they were busy saying regional party, we won Kafulafuta. We know that Mmembe knows that PF stole our victories in Mpongwe and Kapiri. During this time we have seen a lot of Zambians from all over the country join themselves to UPND; Mutale Nalumango, veep Dr Banda, our national youth chairman Percy Chanda, late Barnabas Chellah and many more. We have found favour with even the Chitimukulu and Bashi Lubemba! UPND is the only party in Zambia today which has enshrined in its constitution the principle of equal representation. Our president and other officials have been to numerous traditional ceremonies in Zambia. We dont know about those other leaders. Hakainde Hichilema supports a group of widows in Luapula province, he has built a market in Lilanda, and has dug boreholes in parts of the city. Is this the work of a tribalist? Do all the students whom he sponsors at the University of Zambia have Tonga surnames? So Mmembe has challenged Zambians to go to all the ministries and check for themselves. We hope he wont cry tribal when Zambians start to document what they will find in our cabinet, our ministries and foreign missions. We dont want to belabour this point because it is not the fault of the majority Bemba people. Once again we refuse to be brought into the PF squabbles or to be dragged into Mmembes tribal talk. We have a huge task on our hands; to liberate this wonderful country economically and on the governance front.
