Moderate Sedation Simulation Course & Workshop Objectives: 1. Prepare patients for sedation, including performing a pre-sedation assessment, acquiring consent, and developing an individualized plan for sedation 2. Perform moderate sedation safely and effectively adhering to regulatory guidelines 3. Plan for and address special patients’ needs and appropriately respond to emergency situations. 4. Monitor patients during post-sedation recovery to ensure safe emergence from sedation. 5. Discharge patients appropriately after recovery. 6. Identifying a high-risk patient 7. Differentiating deep sedation from moderate sedation 8. Assessing the patient for responsiveness, airway adequacy, ventilation, oxygenation and circulation 9. Monitoring effectively 10. Rescuing a patient from deeper-than-intended sedation 11. Titrating sedatives and analgesics based on pharmacologic characteristics 12. Techniques: i.v, nasal, oral, inhalational Hemodynamic Monitoring Simulation Course & Workshop Objectives: • Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: explain the fundamental principles and indications for invasive hemodynamic monitoring • Discuss the relevance of zeroing the lines to the phlebostatic axis prior to waveform readings • Describe the indications for central venous lines and explain the normal parameters expected • Briefly discuss the indications for arterial lines and describe the expected waveforms • Review troubleshooting tips for dampened waveforms and/or abnormal readings with hemodynamic monitoring • Discuss the use of functional hemodynamic monitoring system, stroke volume variation in the assessment of volume status.
