Modern abattoir not at the cost of Khadi Mill playfield :Soz ‘Promoting sports in State our mantra’ Srinagar, Oct 27: (GNS) In order to boost the sports talent among young generation and to keep them at bay from resorting to disruptive activities Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Sunday said the party is at forefront in encouraging the sports lovers in the State. Addressing the final match of cricket tournament “Jan Skinder Cricket Tournament” at Khadi Mill Ground, Allocha Bagh, Srinagar, being organized by Jammu Kashmir Congress leader and Youth Congress State Secretary, Jan Skinder, JKPCC State Chief and Member Rajya Sabha, Prof Saif ud Din Soz said the party will try at all levels to come up to the passion and expectations of the sports lovers in the State. He said no one will be allowed to play politics with the ground which is meant only for sports. “Some vested interests had started to make abattoir here against the wishes and aspirations of the people and sports fraternity which will not be tolerated at any cost,” State Congress Chief, Prof Soz told a local news agency GNS, and assured that there will be a mini stadium for both football and cricket at Khadi Mill. “This will be one of the best sports ground in Srinagar,” Soz added. Congress leader Jan Skinder while talking to GNS said that organizing such tournaments will help in boosting and refining the “hidden talent” of Kashmiri youth, “which otherwise gets channelized in undesired direction.” “Our motive of organizing such tournaments is to encourage the youth towards sports which is part and parcel of education system and all round development of their personality,” Jan said, adding that we want to produce thousands of Parvez Rasools from the State. He said those who had stones in their hands and were involved in anti-public activities should now take bats and balls instead. “They should come forward in making the society better and we are there to assist and encourage them,” he said, adding, “There will be a mini-stadium at any cost.” Jan also expressed his utmost gratitude and thanks to JKPCC Chief, Prof Saif ud Din Soz for gracing his presence on the ocassion. It is pertinent to mention here that work on modern abattoir was started by ruling National Conference last year in this ground which was opposed tooth and nail by locals of several areas, as it is the only playfield for at least 20 local Mohallas including whole Batamaloo area of Srinagar.
