Modern skis are high tech sports gear made to be light and easily maneuverable. A lot has changed since people first started skiing, which is evident in what archaeologists believe to be a 1300 year old medieval ski that has been found in a national park in Norway. This is only one of two ancient skis that still have the binding attached, and the other one was discovered in Finland. There are only around 20 pre-modern wooden skis that have been found in Norway. Measuring at 69 inches long and five point seven inches wide with wicker and leather binding straps, the recent find is from the Early Viking Age. Original article w/ video: bit.ly/1nt0HAL
