Modou Jaya wrote: Seems like you avoided answering sait mattys questions.... Would you mind answering them? Response Modou Jatta, welcome back, your views are always welcome here, freely. Am glad you are here to speak for Sat Matty, he is missing in action. He is apparently doing his research to answer the questions, and show Gambians evidence of how Dictator Jammeh has done in the three indicators; social, economic and political. So, in the mean time , you can go ahead with your facts. The floor is yours, my friend... Socially, under the Jawara administration, before 1994, Gambia was a harmonious country. A nation, over time, takes the character of its leader, as a result, Gambians lived in harmony with each other, they lived in dignity and peace. President Jawara nurtured peace and harmony and we became recognized for it. The result was that tens of thousands of young skilled West Africans gravitated towards Gambia, to thrive in a peaceful country. Gambia became a favored destination for Guineans, Senegalese, Ghanaians, East Asians, to name a few. President Jawara also encouraged the role of traditional leaders. People elected their local chiefs and Alkalolus, to name a few. He never intervened in how people followed their religion, especially, how and when they celebrate Eid. You see, as an accomplished person, before he joined politics, he ruled with mercy and humility . He mastered the Quran before he began formal Western education, ...his academic achievements speak for themselves. He was a respected veterinary scientist, just saying.... By the way, please dont forget to remind us of Dictator Jammehs personal achievments, before 1994, we know he has NOT earned anything since 1994. That part is clear, that he is a lightweight, despite his illusionary titles! Economically, President Jawara promoted and implemented free market, liberal, non-interventionist economic policies, despite our limitations. The result was Gambia, before 1994, was the economic magnet for the sub-region, in the re-export sector . Gambia had limited industry, but we re-exported goods to Senegal, the Guineas, Mali, Mauritania. Price of goods, especially basic items was low beyond belief. Anybody who engaged in petty trading did well. By the way, the price of a bag of quality rice, 50kg, was D130! How much is a bag of rice today?....Gambian farmers, before 1994, produced a higher tonnage in groundnut and cotton . Farmers could afford to go on pilgrimage, or send thir children to Europe, from their produce sales. Tourism provided additional jobs for high school graduates, not to mention the tourist markets and horticultural workers. President Jawara did not intervene in the economy, did not compete with the state in business. Please to OJs audio recordings again. Politically, President Jawara psrdoned all members of the 1981attempted coup. Only 1 person was executed in 30 years, and his body was returned to the family for a dignified burial. Where are the bodies of the Mile 2 Nine, The 40 murdered Ghanaians , Daba Marena, Chief Manneh, etc? Press freedom, freedom of association were protected . President Jawara did not own any newspapers, or businesses, and No one worked on his farm for free, especially civil servants. He promoted social harmony with his exemplary personal behavior, his humility, competence, confidence. He was not intimidated by anyones success or accomplishments , he was accomplished himself. He let his qualifications, accomplishments speak for themselves. He dropped the Earned title, Dr. Jawara, for President Jawara...How is that for humility? We are all salivating for your much awaited answers about Dictator Jammehs record and achievements. Please Share this post, Like us, ..stay tuned for more. Thank you
