Mohawk men Drop Volleyball Opener The Mohawk mens volleyball team dropped their OCAA regular season opener 3-2 to the Humber Hawks in Etobicoke Wednesday (Oct. 23) The scores were 20-25, 16-25, 26-24, 26-24, 12-15. Bryce Marcussen led the Mountaineer offence with five kills, four service aces and five stuff blocks. Mark MacFarlane had eight kills, five blocks and 12 digs. Trevor McLaughlin contributed 10 kills, one ace, one stuff block and 15 digs, while Marcin Jedrzejewski recorded 10 kills and 11 digs. Mark Kaveckas produced 17 digs in a losing cause. Cam Fletcher led the victorious Hawks with 15 kills, two blocks and 18 digs, while Aleks Invelss had 23 digs. Our slow starts this season have really affected our rhythm and game plans early in our matches so far, said Mohawk head coach Matthew Schnarr. Our group needs to find a way to start the match focused and with energy. I am proud of the fight we showed to give ourselves the opportunity to win but the late start really affected the outcome. Unforced errors and discipline are the two areas we need to focus for us to compete at the top of the West Division.
