Molly had a Femoral Head Ostectomy today to correct her hip - TopicsExpress

Molly had a Femoral Head Ostectomy today to correct her hip luxation (out of socket hip). We put the hip back in socket twice but due to a combination of degenerative joint disease and some mild trauma, it wouldnt stay in. This procedure removes the femoral head (the ball of the ball and socket joint) and allows the body to form a false joint. After a few weeks of rehab she should be running around like before. The first X-ray shows the luxated hip and the second shows the hip with the femoral head removed after surgery. Her picture was immediately after surgery, she will get a good brushing before going home!
