Mom Post: Has anyone else dealt with a parent who belittled and degraded the other parent into thinking they were a bad parent or had no rights to their child? BF says ever since D was born, BM made him feel like he is no good as a father. From little things like saying he didnt know how to do something or couldnt handle D, to outright saying he didnt deserve to be a father and had no rights to D. When BM moved and took D with her, she wanted BF to give up all his rights. Though not legally binding, he agreed to such as well as paying her $1600 per month plus health insurance, in hopes that if he gave her everything she asked she would give him visitations down the road. BM occasionally mentioned working things out whenever something didnt work out with a new SO of hers. She sent a few pictures of D, but never had her call or offered for him to visit. I think she was just stringing things along to keep the money flowing. When I met BF, he couldnt even talk about D because he was so depressed. He missed her, but felt like he had no right to contact her. When BF wanted to send Christmas presents for D, he had to ask BM for permission. She told him he could, but said he shouldnt bother trying to be in Ds life and so on. BM even had other people harassing BF via texts. Whenever he sent a card to D, BM would tell him not to sign daddy, that he had no right to be Ds father. When BF lost his job and couldnt send BM money, she started harassing him even more. Trying to guilt him into sending money he didnt have and when that didnt work shed just tell him he had no right to be a father. When BF asked about visiting D, BM said the same stuff. Then brought up how she wants BF to give up all his rights so BMs future husband can adopt D. BF knows better now, but before I came along BM had chipped away at BF over the years and he really believed he had no rights to his D and no chance of being in Ds life unless it was on BMs terms.
