Mom arrives today for a three week visit during which time Marcia and Marilyn plus a few are going to take a few days away from their hectic pace. We have been very busy this morning getting ready for her arrival, change the bedrooms, change the sheets, dust and all the type of prep. I know people get really involved in being prepared for company, for vacations, for going to a game and other events in life. Just remember how much time, effort and money went into preparing for a wedding or the arrival of a baby, some even plan for their funeral (mine is all done and paid for), but the most important thing in life to prepare for is often forgotten. No its not the annual taxes, which some leave to the very last moment of their last extension, but I wont name names on that one. Are we prepared for the day we meet Jesus? I doubt anyone has that date on their calendar, or in long range written plans, does it even appear on anyones Bucket list? Yet that day is coming and we dont know the day or the hour of the day it will happen. Some have even given up thinking about it and foolishly believe it will never happen, the day will never come because as they have matured they have found something better to believe in. Our fantasies do not alter the teaching of Christ and the Apostles who share the plan of Christs return when we least expect it. The events in the world today lead many to believe it must be soon and of course each day brings the event closer than the day before. I am reminded of the words, God is not slack concerning His promises as some men count slackness, but is long-suffering to us-ward not willing that any should perish but that all should have everlasting life.. The day is coming. My dad, in the last months of his life when the pains of cancer were so strong, said, I am ready to go but I think I will wait for the next bus. A few days before his death his pastor was visiting and said before leaving, Now Chuck, dont go into the river Jordan. Dad said, I think I may go wading in the water... He died within the week. I am thankful my dad knew and believed but most of all he was prepared for the move. Well its almost time to head to the airport, I have to get ready.
