Momma wants to clear up some stuff. Many people are wondering why - TopicsExpress

Momma wants to clear up some stuff. Many people are wondering why we have opted to go with a breeder instead of a rescue for our next doxie. I explain this a lot, but I also understand that not everyone can take the time to read through all the comments. I know that down across the USA the dachshund rescues are plentiful. Even in eastern Canada, there are quite a few, but here in alberta our selection is very limited. We have searched for months looking for a dachshund that would suit our needs. They seem to have all the same dogs, and no new ones coming in. I suppose this is because they need the ones they have in foster care to be adopted first. They do not have what we are looking for. This is Dads choice. He wants a young long haired girl. The only long hair girl available is a 9 or 10 year old...granted, a perfect companion for Weens, but not for Frankie, which is the whole point. A registered breeder, in Canada breeds for the integrity of the breed...no fancy colors, but healthy, Happy dogs. They breed to show, or offer these dogs on a limited registration, which means no breeding. We have no intention of breeding. These breeders do not advertise their pups, as it is not a money making scheme...it is simply trying to preserve the qualities of the breed. This is truly what we want, and we would hope our choices would be respected. Just as in buying cars (o know there is no comparison really) some want cars, some trucks, some red, some white...some fuel injected, some economical. We all choose what is going to work best for us, and our family. I hope you all understand that we do not wish to explain our choices further. I also hope we get to continue to read and enjoy your comments. Anita, Denis, Weens and Frankie.
