Monarch tagging is coordinated through an organization called - TopicsExpress

Monarch tagging is coordinated through an organization called Monarch Watch; we get our tags from them, and submit all tag numbers back to their website. If anyone finds a tagged monarch, they report it through Monarch Watchs site as well. The information is not updated in real time, but you can see last years tag recovery information here: monarchwatch.org/tagmig/recoveries.htm. Sometime this winter or next spring, they will post the 2014 migration information there, too. We also get a direct notification if one of our tags are recovered. The tags are not locators (like a radio collar or GPS), so you cant follow the migration directly. This research depends on citizen scientists throughout the United States and Mexico, who capture, tag and report monarchs throughout their journey.
