Monday 10/6/2014 - 4:40 pm: *** Wet & Windy Weather Expected Across Northern Maine From Tuesday Afternoon Through All Of Wednesday *** After a clear night tonight with some patchy fog around and low temperatures in the mid to upper 30s, a strong frontal boundary is expected to impact our weather with rain and wind from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday. Tuesday is expected to start out with a mixture of sun and clouds, but skies will quickly become cloudy towards late Tuesday morning. An area of scattered showers is expected to move from southwest to northeast across northern Maine during Tuesday afternoon. High temperatures Tuesday will be in the low 60s. Winds on Tuesday will be south at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Steady rain, which may be heavy at times, is expected for Tuesday night. Low temperatures on Tuesday night will be near 50 Degrees. Winds on Tuesday night will be south to southeast at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. The actual strong cold front will move through on Wednesday. This means that rain, which will be frequently heavy at times, is expected throughout much of Wednesday. In addition, there will be just enough unstable air around to produce an isolated embedded thunderstorm or two during Wednesday afternoon. This front will also produce very gusty winds with south to southeast winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph expected throughout much of Wednesday. The rain is expected to come to an end by Wednesday evening with total rainfall amounts of between one half (0.50) and one inch expected. Locally higher rainfall amounts are possible, especially over areas that receive any thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon.
