Possibly of interest to locals and those who are currently or who intend to visit our area. ------------------------------ Since I came to my adopted town New Ross Co Wexford in this Sunny South East of Ireland The town has come on in leaps and bounds with excellent facilities for locals and holiday makers alike. The locals have also been most supportive of my business efforts in the town. The district now has many unique attractions offering several alternative choices of activity catering for all tastes. Kennedy park relatively close to the town. The Dunbrody famine ship [built in the town] The Kennedy homestead [Due to open on the 22nd June] The New Ross Cruising restaurant [operated by the Minihan family.] Duncannon fort and seaside strand. The New Ross angling centre. The New Ross Golf CLUB. The Kennedy memorial swimming pool shortly to be replaced by a new pool and fitness centre. Loftus hall Fethard on sea. [a haunting experience to give one the willies] St Mary’s Abbey in the town [An anchient burial ground in bad need of motherly love but much sought out by many tourists.] The Hook light house.Fethard On Sea. Jim Harney’s cobbler shop with his unique collection of miniature handmade shoes. Cushinstown church designed by the famous architect “Pubin”. The New Ross Marina where all boating visitors are welcome. St Michael’s theatre where periodic shows are presented. The town has also many vibrant organizations such as Lions, Bridge clubs, Boxing, Soccer Badminton, Rugby , Cycling, Angling, Athletic, Swimming Gaelic Games and many other clubs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are numerous pubs [some providing nightly entertainment] The Ross Inn. [The Hosey Family] The 3 Bullet Gate [The O Neill Family] Corcorans the Irishtown. [The Corcoran Family] Bolg Bui Mary Street [Bolg Bui translates to Yellow Belly a term applied to Wexford people] Hanrahans of North Strret. [The Hanrahan family] Spider O Briens South Street. The Theatre Tavern South Street. [ The Moran Family] Mannions country pub owned by the Hosey family. Whelans The Iristown [The Rogers Family] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Brandon House hotel Is renowned for its service/food and facilities The Horse and Hound Ballinboola 6 miles away is a very popular inn for many The Docks hotel John Street is very popular particularly with younger folk. Creacon Lodge [Wellness Centre] a few miles from the town is an excellent addition to the area. The Cedar lodge about 8 miles out is also a popular hotel for the area. Some of these and other accommodation providers may have reviews on the trip adviser website. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Town is also proud to have the World Champion Pipe band for 2012 and the whole population are wishing them all the best for the defence of their title in August. Caroline’s Hairdressing saloon have the distinction of being “Hairdresser of the year” here in Ireland. Anna Furlongs saloon is also from the top drawer and Anna has founded an association to provide wigs for cancer sufferers. All of the above purely a flavour of the town and it’s environs There are numerous other thriving business’s in the town I sincerely wish to apologize for any notable omissions But I have at least painted a flavour of our offerings to all and sundry that may be on facebook.
