Monday Dec 2: What?! How did it get to be December already? My how time is so funny. These have been the slowest and the fastest two months all at the same time. We wrapped up our holiday with a lazy Sunday. So lazy in fact I forgot to draw blood for his CBC! I remembered last night and had to make a note so I could remember to do it this morning, which I did. Lucas and I also got few easy errands done coming back from the lab so that was helpful. Yesterday we also got his dressing changed and his caps. The dressing changes are getting easier for him, they are still a bit painful, but he no longer screams and screams. Which is good for our stress levels during the change. Over the holiday the Kaiser scheduler called and over approximately 6 phone calls we finally figured out when his re-staging scans would be this week. We are looking at Wednesday for a quick appointment to inject the radio isotopes for his MIBG on Thursday. They will sedate him for the MIBG, as this is one of the long ones, about 1 hr. 45 min. If all goes well, they will roll him right in to his CT scan, which will take only about 10 minutes. I expect to be there most of the day. Lucas doesnt always come off sedation well, so we will pray he has no complications. these re-staging scans will be compared to the baseline scans taken our first week in the hospital. They will give us valuable information regarding the tumor and what its doing. Note of interest: He is on an orange kick right now. He just loves oranges. Since he gets to eat just about anything anytime, oranges are easy and healthy so that works for me. Bonus, my hands and house smell like oranges!
