Monday, January 5 - 13:45. Kids Accidently Locked In Car. Once again emergency services have responded to a cry for assistance, after mum accidentally locked her loved one in the vehicle on Wallan-Whitlesea Road in Upper Plenty shortly after 1pm this afternoon. While this incident was an accident, it was very distressing to both mother a child. With the days becoming hotter and hotter we need to take extra precautions to ensure accidents like this dont happen to you. It only takes a few minutes for a child to be overcomed by the heat inside a sealed car. Temperatures inside a car can double in a short time. Ensure your keys are in your hand before exiting the vehicle, consider leaving your door open until you have removed your little ones from the car. In this incident, the vehicles window was smashed in order to gain entry. The child was unharmed and quickly reunited with mum. Dont let this happen to you. This is a video from America, it outlines this dangers of leaving your kids in the car. This video sends shivers down my spine everytime I watch it. Have a watch. https://youtube/watch?v=XNDWN8KDVSM Safety Recommendations - Verify that you have your car keys in hand before closing the vehicle door. - NEVER leave your child unattended in a vehicle, not even for a minute. - If you see a child, unattended in a hot vehicle, call 000 immediately.
