Monday, June 10, 2013 “…brings forth out of his treasure things both old and new” –Matthew 12:35 Good Morning Heavenly Father, Family & Friends!! (*) Yesterday’s Discovered Treasure for Today: (Written approximately 600 years before the coming of Christ) Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the LORD! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God!” (Isaiah 40:3 NLT) (Written approximately 60-70 years after the time of Christ by one of His disciples, Matthew) In those days John the Baptist came to the Judean wilderness and began preaching. His message was, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” The prophet Isaiah was speaking about John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him!’” (Matthew 3:1-3 NLT) (*) Today’s Application: Preparation is a very necessary and important ingredient to any success. It is told that in ancient times, when a king set out to visit some part of his kingdom, he would dispatch men before him to prepare the way. These emissaries would do many things to help guarantee the success of the monarch’s visit. Roads would be smoothed and straightened. Obstacles would be removed and the route made secure from bandits and robbers. Comfortable resting places would be found and fresh water would be made available. John the Baptist was seeking to prepare the people for the coming of the Messiah. “Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him”, says John. These words are again before us as we busy ourselves in preparation for another day, week and opportunity or perhaps a challenge as such to smooth out, clear away any stumbling blocks and make an un-encumbered path for God’s Presence in our lives and in the lives of those around us. You and I are symbolically being called to always have our hearts readied for God’s Presence for His purposes of consultation, comfort and call to reach out to others in His Name. The preparation being sought is the readying of our hearts, minds and bodies to welcome Christ into every facet of our lives, making possible His rebirthing characteristics becoming alive in our daily existence. With this, better days and attitudes are always in store for our edification! 0;-)
