Monday June 30th is by election day in four ridings in Canada and we’d like to get our prediction on the record as we usually do. The first riding is the Conservative stronghold of MacLeod in Alberta. Although Liberals will see a dramatic four or five fold increase in their support since 2011, we will predict the Conservative hold this seat. The other by election in Alberta is Fort McMurray-Athabasca. This large riding in northern Alberta will go Liberal. Many factors will be at play in this by election, a large shadow population in the Region of Wood Buffalo of eastern Canadians and new Canadians will be the main factor in this upset win. The riding of Trinity-Spadina in downtown Toronto will also be a Liberal pick up. With star candidate Adam Vaughan and a recent Liberal win here provincially, it will be a large margin of victory. The last by election riding is Scarborough-Agincourt, held previously by long serving MP Jim Karygiannis for the Liberals. This riding will be held by Liberal candidate Arnold Chan. These by-election results should send shockwaves through both the Conservative and NDP parties and could be a prelude for similar upsets across Canada in a 2015 general election.
