Monday Merced Matter: A Merced College program that helps business owners and their employees get more out of their jobs has spread to scores of community colleges across the state since its creation 15 years ago this month. It’s the brainchild of Jonae Pistoresi, who also has a few other brainchildren to brag about. A professor for 25 years at Merced College, Pistoresi came up with the Customer Service Academy and has watched it expand to about 75 of the 112 community colleges in the state. The academy teaches a number of job skills, such as customer service and communication, but also trains employees on managing stress and building a team atmosphere.
