Monday, November 17, 2014 Day 7 (FINAL DAY!) My week of reading has came to an end! However, I am proud to say that I now genuinely enjoy reading again like I use too and I plan to make reading a regular thing like I have these past 7 days. It has been both relaxing and enlightening to rekindle that fire inside that urges me to read more. Now! On to this weeks final reading! This being the last day, I decided to mix things up and choose to continue reading my favorite book from the week. That book is... DAD IS FAT! by Jim Gaffigan Reading Time: 5:25-6:45 p.m. Pages Read: 38-66 This book just really hits my funny bone! I havent really had the best day and the weather was cold and rainy so I was in the mood to laugh. I made a coffee and sat up comfortable in bed and started reading. I was thrown back into Jim hilarious mind, this time to hear his views on his own father, narcissism, pregnancy, home birth, and babies and toddlers. It goes with out saying that there were many laughs. I find it interesting to read what life as a parent is like from someone who can joke about these topics that we so often take so seriously. Whats life without laughter? Like Jim says earlier in the book, Failing and laughing at your own shortcomings are the hallmarks of a sane parent. I feel this can be applied to life in general as well. I find it really great that apart from the jokes Jim makes, you can really tell that he loves his family more than anything as should all parents and children. It brings to mind all the funny mishaps and good times that my family have got into. Like this one time, when my brother and Granddad and I went to this huge rock quarry to look at it and throw rocks into it. While we were hanging out, someone came and not knowing we were there, shut and locked the exit gate. We found this hilarious, and we had to yell at a house nearby to get attention to come help us open the gate. We would of called the police, but we were pretty sure we were trespassing haha. If I could go back and relive that fine memory, I wouldnt change a thing. It was a pleasure to continue reading Jims account of being a goofball Dad and Im looking forward to finishing this book along with all the other great books I have read this past week! Its been fun getting back to the books and I hope you all enjoyed the read! Ill finish up this project with some more funny quotes from the book: When Jims Dad sat him down to talk before going to college: Dad: [Cough] Now, Jim, Im not sending you to college so you can get drunk and flunk out. Me: Well, then Im not going. Youre going to have to send a neighbor. My stand-up act was established on a lazy, gluttonous, selfish point of view and, based on my success, people identified. Turns out everyone is a closet narcissist. Except you, of course. Youre perfect. Keep reading. My view has always been, pregnant or not, that does not mean she cant move some cinder blocks. We are a team, and I have to take a second nap today. Everyone wants to rub a pregnant womens belly, but when I ask people to rub my belly, I get kicked out of Dave & Busters.
