Monday is the first day of YLead, but also a day where I have - TopicsExpress

Monday is the first day of YLead, but also a day where I have experienced some of the worst attitudes in my six years of RV life. Our class had bought food from the canteen during our only short break of half an hour in a 9am-4pm school day, only to be rudely chased out by some YLead facilitators. What made it worse was that our break was at 11am, but they only had to use the tables at around 1130 (at the end of our breaks). This is not just a matter of talking to seniors, but rather being reasonable and nice when requesting that we move. It was not feasible to contain all students from years 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 having breaks at that timeslot to just the blue tables (we were subsequently chased away from the red tables as the facilitator said it was for teachers), and we were displaced all the way to the hostel canteen. Perhaps it would be good to consider the feasibility and manageability of everything? A suitable number of tables could be allocated to the rest of the school having breaks while the rest can be taken up by YLead people, which could be proportional to their respective populations. Additionally, with regards to the prom, it is understandable that the organisers had not intended to ruin things for their graduating seniors. However, we should consider that just as we studied for a test intending to pass it, doesnt mean we will, it is also apparent that there is some negative feedback with regards to the theme not intended by the organisers. In my opinion, I just find it a bit generic, but I just hope that our opinions can be taken into consideration instead of being flatly rejected. Certainly, the school has been increasingly taking students opinions into consideration, and I hope that this trend continues. I also hope that the concept behind YLead is truly that of leadership and not of dictatorship.
