Mongu has been dropped from the proposed venues for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, which Zambia is bidding to host as reported in Todays Daily Mail, Friday August 8th 2014. The Western Province headquarters has since been replaced with Chililabombwe and Konokola stadium will be upgraded if the country wins 2019 Africa cup of Nations bid. Mongu has been dropped because the town has inadequate infrastructure.Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Inspectors are expected in the country tomorrow.
