Monkey Stun Amble Tavern Sunday 10th November 2013 Starting X (4-4-2) GK: S Brown, McFadyen, Dixon, Neal, Donohoe, Eastway, Moffitt, Pattison, C Hay & Williamson Subs: None Overview: The Monkey travelled to top of the table & undefeated Amble Tavern with only ten players due to an unprecedented list of absentees. Despite a very clear mid-week text to confirm any non-attendance David Dennis Bergkamp Scott chose to ignore this & for the first time in two years decided to go on the lash up Bedlington front street. Eight hours & five Summer Fruit Kopparbergs later David was very much the worse for wear & was a no-show on the Sunday morning, when eventually contacted he claimed to have a bad back however it remains unclear how this injury arose as he hasnt played a competitive football match in nearly three weeks. Other notable missing faces were Ryan Stafford & Daniel Dargue with the former notifying the management at 5am Sunday morning he couldnt make it as he was still in Newcastle & the latter was completely unreachable on the Sunday morning with repeated calls, texts & knocks on his door going unanswered. Dargue if youre reading this can you please confirm youre still alive? Oh & you also owe £10 subs as well. Finally missing in action was Josh Laverick who was on his way back from Australia on the morning of the game, completely unacceptable & undoubtedly the worst excuse out of everyone :) The Goals: 0-1 Amble Tavern, The Tavern take the lead early in the first half with a really well worked goal. Some crisp passing led to the ball being fed to striker Sean Taylor in the box & his clever back-heel found the onrushing Jayden Hindhaugh who side-footed the ball first time into the top corner. 1-1 Monkey midfielder Chris Moffitt slips a wonderful through-ball behind the defence to Dylan Williamson & he clinically fires the ball into the bottom corner. 2-1 Not long before the half time break The Monkey once again managed to find some space in the midfield but this time it was Roy Pattison who was the provider as he cleverly played in Williamson who coolly finished by chipping the ball over the goalkeeper & into the corner. HT 2-2 Amble Tavern equalise thanks to a strong run into the box & calm finish from Nathan Buddle. 3-2 The Monkey retake the lead as Pattison fed the ball to Moffitt in the centre of the park & his long diagonal pass to the left hand side found Williamson who after beating a defender fired superbly into the far right corner of the goal from a tight angle. 4-2 The Monkey give themselves some breathing space as goalkeeper Simon Browns long up-field kick is missed by the Amble centre half & sets Williamson clear who after drawing the goalkeeper once again made no mistake with a clinical finish. Man of the match (as voted for by the opposition) Truth be told The Monkey had ten stand-out performers on Sunday but sadly we can only mention one player here: Dylan Williamson, four great goals & a tireless display by The Monkey number ten. Next game: East Chevington(a) in the first round of the George Cave Cup Sunday 24th November, if you can, please get yourself along if you can, the lads would really appreciate the support.
