Monsanto did everything they could to rid themselves of an inconvenient peer-reviewed 2012 study headed by French scientist, Gilles-Eric Séralini, that showed that GMOs and the herbicide Roundup caused severe liver and kidney damage and hormonal disturbances in lab rats. The Séralini study was published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology. in 2013, Monsanto placed one of their former employees as associate editor at the journal FCT and VOILA!, Séralinis study was retracted. Study gone forever, Monsanto very happy! Or so they thought. This year, after 3 rounds of rigorous peer review, the study has been republished by Environmental Sciences Europe.
