Monsanto just might’ve been given a free pass by European Parliament to peddle its genetically modified crops all over Europe -- including places where it has been banned. A proposal from the EU Environment Council would mean biotech companies would have the power to overturn decisions made by democratically elected governments that don’t allow their products. That means Monsanto’s GM maize could be grown in the UK as soon as next year if the company gets its way. GM crops are deeply unpopular with European citizens -- and rightly so.Wherever GM crops are grown, the dramatic increase in toxic herbicide use can have devastating effects on our health. I just signed the petition asking MEPs to vote against GMO crops. You can join me here: action.sumofus.org/a/gm-crops-europe/?sub=mtl
