Monsoon rainfall is now deficient by over 60% and farming - TopicsExpress

Monsoon rainfall is now deficient by over 60% and farming operations in all the rainfed areas have been severely affected. Late rains will not change outcomes now. The Central and State governments have shown no signs of being alive to the looming crisis. By now we should have famine relief works planned so that small and landless farmers and farm workers have alternate sources of income. The money should have been provided for in the budget. There was no mention of a farm front crisis by the FM. A famine is not the shortage of food grains but the lack of income to sustain oneself. We have enough food grains in our warehouses and have the money to import also. That is not the issue. People must have the ability to support themselves. Wake up fellows. This is the time when we really need a government that can serve the people. Achche din will only come when we have an achcha sarkar.
