Montreal news, November 3.14 Thousands of Montreal-area motorists, using the 40 East, had a not-fun time getting to work this morning. Tail-gating motorists are responsible. A tractor trailer hit an SUV on the 40 East in the construction zone. The wrecks were then hit by another tractor-trailer following not too far behind. The SUV driver is in critical condition. = Montreal police, with help from an SQ helicopter, the tact team and a K-9 unit, have tracked down and arrested a man who fired at police in St. Michel yesterday morning. Police were approaching the former Miron quarry after 911 calls claimed shots were fired in the area. When they got there they discovered 5 men who fled in a car. They tried to stop the vehicle and following a chase, the 5 stopped and fled but one of them turned and fired at police with a handgun. Police fired back but he escaped. He was caught a short time afterward. = Montreal homicide investigators are looking into the suspicious death of a man near the Lachine Canal. He was found near near the corner of Hamilton and St. Patrick in Ville Emard, yesterday afternoon. = Long lines were evident as people showed up to vote yesterday in island wide school board elections.
