More PDP govs may join us –APC The All Progressives Congress on Monday said there was still the possibility of more governors, who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party, joining its fold before 2015. In an interview with our correspondent, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, refuted claims by the PDP that two APC governors were set to join the ruling party. Mohammed said the PDP was desperate to retain the presidency in 2015 and was doing all it could to divert attention from its problems, which includes the indictment of its members as Boko Haram sponsors. He said, “I think the PDP is poach drunk. They just say whatever they like. Let them mention the two APC governors that they claim want to join them. It’s nothing but a diversionary tactics to take the peoples’ mind away from their mounting of problems. “What Nigerians want to know is what Ali Modu Sheriff was doing with President Goodluck Jonathan in Chad. Nigerians want to know what Jonathan is doing about those who have been fingered as sponsors of Boko Haram.” The APC spokesman said the recent events have shown that Jonathan had been playing games with the lives of Nigerians by exploiting the Boko Haram insurgency for political gain. He said, “Nigerians are now realising that it is President Jonathan that is playing games with us and he is exploiting the Boko Haram insurgency for political gain. That is the real issue. It’s not whether any of our governors want to defect to the PDP. In fact none of our governors will defect. “Who do they want to woo among our governors. The PDP, from my reading of them, are very desperate but one thing that is clear is that they have found our fortress impregnable. If our governors want to join them, why don’t they mention their names or why don’t the governors say it themselves? It is completely a non-issue.” When asked if the APC was still expecting more PDP governors to join its fold before the 2015 elections, Mohammed said, “In politics 24 hours is too long. What that means is that there is nothing that is impossible.” Shortly after the five state governors defected from the PDP to the APC, Mohammed had said his party was ready to poach more governors and other leaders of the ruling party
